The Abheegrah Foundation spreads healthcare awareness across communities — starting with blood donation. We believe the right knowledge can save lives.
The Abheegrah Foundation is not a hospital, clinic, or medical service. We are a healthcare awareness organisation — and we believe that knowledge is the most powerful tool in keeping communities healthy.
We create campaigns that make complex health topics simple, accessible, and actionable. Our first focus: blood donation awareness — because India faces a critical gap between blood supply and demand, and awareness is the first step to closing it.

Volunteer, help organise a blood donation camp, or spread awareness in your community. Every contribution matters.
The Abheegrah Foundation was established by a passionate group in Bengaluru who witnessed communities struggling — not because healthcare was absent, but because people simply did not know enough to seek it.
We are not doctors. We are not a hospital. We are storytellers, educators, and community builders who believe in the life-changing power of the right information at the right time.
"An informed community is a healthier community."
Our journey starts with blood donation awareness — because millions of lives in India depend on voluntary donors, yet most people don't know how, when, or why to give. We intend to change that.
To empower underserved communities with accurate, accessible healthcare awareness that enables informed decisions about health and well-being.
A society where no one suffers a preventable health issue simply due to a lack of awareness or access to the right knowledge.
Every person we reach deserves to feel heard, respected, and supported — always.
Real change is collective. We thrive when communities come together to share knowledge.
We share only verified, responsible information. Transparency and trust are non-negotiable.
Awareness alone isn't enough — we inspire meaningful steps towards better health outcomes.
We make healthcare information clear, simple, and available to anyone, anywhere.
India faces a critical gap between blood demand and supply. Our campaign raises awareness about every aspect of blood donation so communities can take informed, life-saving action.
A blood bank is a specialised facility that collects, tests, processes, and stores donated blood — a life-saving warehouse always ready when patients need it most.
Attached to hospitals — they collect, process, and supply blood directly to patients within the same facility. Essential for surgeries and in-house emergencies.
Independent centres serving multiple hospitals. They organise donation drives and maintain diverse blood group inventories for the broader community.
Specially equipped medical vehicles that travel to remote and underserved areas to collect blood donations — bringing the blood bank directly to communities in need.
Blood is far more than a red liquid — it's a complex mix of components, each with a vital role. One donation can save up to three lives because blood can be separated into distinct parts.
Blood separates into multiple life-saving components
Carry oxygen from lungs to every cell in the body. Give blood its red colour. Critical for: surgery patients, accident victims, and anaemia patients.
The liquid that carries cells, nutrients, hormones, and proteins. Vital for clotting and immune response. Critical for: burn victims and trauma patients.
Tiny cell fragments that form clots and stop bleeding. Critical for: dengue patients, cancer patients, and bleeding disorders.
The immune system's defence force — fighting infections and diseases. Critical for: immune-compromised patients and post-surgery recovery.
Donating blood takes just 30–45 minutes and can save up to 3 lives. It's safe, simple, and one of the most powerful things you can do for your community.
Fill a short health questionnaire. Carry valid government-issued ID.
Blood pressure, haemoglobin, pulse, and temperature checked by a trained professional.
~450ml blood collected over 8–10 min using a sterile, single-use needle.
Rest 15 minutes, enjoy refreshments. Your body replenishes blood within 24–48 hours.
You may feel a slight prick. The process is very safe with sterile, single-use equipment and trained supervision.
Blood is replenished within 24–48 hours. Most donors resume normal activities the same day.
Most people feel fine after a short rest. Avoid heavy exercise for just 24 hours after donating.
Blood is separated into red cells, platelets, and plasma — each benefiting a different patient.
India is one of the world's largest blood-collecting nations — yet a significant gap between supply and demand persists. Understanding this scenario is the first step to action.

Of Indians donate blood — WHO recommends 2–3%
Most blood banks are in cities. Rural patients lose critical time travelling during emergencies.
Misconceptions about pain and weakness prevent many from donating. Education is the most effective tool.
Improper storage infrastructure leads to blood wastage. Awareness about proper protocols can reduce losses.
Donation drops during summers and festive seasons. Consistent community engagement is key.
India mandates 100% voluntary, non-remunerated donation — eliminating paid donation systems for a safer supply.
Government portal mapping blood bank availability in real time — enabling faster access to compatible blood.
Nationwide campaigns in schools, colleges, and offices every year.
Organisations like Abheegrah Foundation reach communities where formal infrastructure is limited.
Volunteer at an awareness event, help organise a blood camp, or spread the word in your community.
Whether you want to volunteer, partner with us, or simply learn more — we'd love to hear from you.
